English film director and producer Ridley Scott plans to invite Chinese filmmaker Zhang Yimou to work on a remake of the historical epic "Qin Shi Huang," Mtime.com reports.

The news came just after Scott's sci-fi blockbuster "Prometheus" opened in Chinese cinemas last week.

Scott first approached Zhang about shooting a film about the famous emperor who lived during the Qin Dynasty (259-210 B.C.) after he saw the opera "Qin Shi Huang" performed in New York in 2006.

For the new film project, Scott would likely be the director, while Zhang would be the producer, the report said.

Scott made his name in the film industry with his 1979 hit "Aliens" and later "Thelma & Louise" (1991) and "Gladiator" (2000).
