[Photo: Mtime.com]The costume epic "The Assassins" will be released in cinemas nationwide on September 28 during the lucrative National Day holiday slot, Mtime.com reports.
The announcement was made yesterday at a news conference in Shanghai, attended by director Zhao Linshan and cast members Chow Yun-fat, Liu Yifei, Alec Su, Shizuka Inoh, Yao Lu and Ni Dahong.
Set during the Three Kingdoms period, "The Assassins" revolves around the important figure Cao Cao, who is in danger of being killed.
At the news conference, Chow Yun-fat said the character of Cao Cao he plays is different from the ones previously portrayed in other films.
"He is a good father, a good leader," Chow said. "I like him. I hope audiences also like him."
Actress Liu Yifei said she plays double roles in the film—Diao Chan, one of the four beautiful women in ancient China, and Diao's daughter.
The first promotional trailer of the film also was released during the news conference.
