Peter Chan Takes Inspiration from New Oriental

Director Peter Chan is taking to the big screen with the story behind the New Oriental company, the first Chinese educational institution to enter the New York Stock Exchange.

New Oriental, with its headquarters in Beijing, is the largest provider of private educational services in China. The school enjoys a prominent reputation among Chinese students looking for overseas study. It was established in 1993 and listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 2006.

"It will be an upbeat film showcasing how the 'Chinese Dream' is reached," said Zhang Qiang, a senior manager at China Film Group.

"It is inspired by the stories of New Oriental, but is not a documentary on New Oriental," Zhang added.

Actors Huang Xiaoming and Tong Dawei have been cast for the film, which is provisionally entitled "Business Partners from China".

Filming will take place in Beijing, Tianjin and New York, with a release set for 2013.
