Hong Kong studio Media Asia has had a busy Cannes, selling titles across a wide range of genres.

Its Motorway (pictured), directed by Soi Cheang and produced by Johnny To, was licensed to Klockworx for Japan, to Horizon for Turkey and Polmedia for Poland.

Chinese period action drama, Switch was sold to RAM Entertainment for Malaysia and to Galaxy Studio for Vietnam. The same two companies also pre-bought rights to Blind Detective, which is directed by To and stars Andy Lau and Sammi Cheng.

Galaxy also grabbed rights to the We Pictures-produced The Guillotines, an action film directed by Andrew Lau and produced by Peter Chan Ho-sun. We Distribution is selling rights outside of Asia and has previously closed deals in the US, France, Italy and India.

Turkey's Horizon also bought a further trio of films from Media Asia: 2012 action drama Windblast; suspense thriller Punished and 2010 Thai action drama My Best Bodyguard. Germany's Tiberius also acquired rights to Windblast.
