Taipei-based producer and sales agent Steve Chicorel is launching a banner under Shoreline Entertainment, Asia Bridge, to handle international sales of Chinese films.
Asia Bridge's debut slate includes David Wu's Cold Steel, a World War II action film produced by Hengdian Studios and starring Tony Leung Ka-fai; Sam Wong's mystery fantasy Judge D, produced in 3D by Chen Baiyi's Yi Sang Media, and German-Chinese animation Little Big Panda, directed by Greg Manwaring.
Chicorel previously teamed with Shoreline founder Morris Ruskin in 2003 to create genre label Rip Tide Entertainment, which is still a division of Shoreline.
"The films Steve have brought Shoreline are beacons which demonstrate that production values and international collaborations are heading in the right direction to build a pipeline of local and international China production for the world outside of China," said Ruskin.
Chicorel and China's Chen Baiyi are currently in pre-production on Gods – a big-budget English-language trilogy based on Chinese mythology – which recently brought on board X-Men and Transformers producer Tom DeSanto to join the production team.
