A press conference promoting Jackie Chan's newest action blockbuster "CZ 12" was held with the megastar himself and several other cast members in attendance on May 18 at Cannes, Southern France, Xinhua reports.
Chan was busy attending promotional events for his movie at Cannes. And Huayi Brothers, the production company for the movie, announced that "the movie successfully obtained many foreign distributors," at Cannes.
The star was quoted as saying, "This is my last action film. I tell you, I'm not young any more. I'm really, really tired. And the world is too violent right now."
CZ is an abbreviation for the Chinese Zodiac. The movie will portray Chan as a character named Jack who is chasing down four bronze animal heads that were looted from China's Summer Palace in 1860 during the invasion of The Eight-Nation Alliance.
Although Chan announced his retirement, he added that he will continue to act. "I want to be an Asian Robert De Niro. I don't just want to be an action star. I want to be a true actor. I want to get rid of my image," Chan said. "I want the audience to know I'm not just a comedian. I can act. Day by day, year by year, I'm going to show you the real Jackie Chan."
