2011 is coming to an end, but movie fans are already looking forward to next year's silver screen offerings. According to a feature report on the famed British TimeOut magazine, 32 movies are regarded as the most anticipated British movies in 2012.
"The Grandmasters," an action flick from famous Chinese director Wong Kar-Wai, and "The Assassin," directed by Taiwanese director Hsien Hou were spotted on the list along with 30 other big names such as the "Star Trek Sequel," "Lincoln," "Cloud Atlas," "The Hobbit," "The Great Gatsby" and "Cosmopolis."
"The Grandmasters" features Chinese megastars Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Zhang Ziyi and South Korean actress Song Hye Kyo. It was originally slated for a December release in 2011. But with a director who is famous for his slow shooting pace and a tendency to come up with new ideas after shooting, the exact date has yet to be confirmed until the director really finishes his work.
"The Assassin" is the first wuxia movie produced by Hou. Based on Pei Xing's short story of the same name in Tang Dynasty, the movie revolves around a woman named Nie Yinniang who was kidnapped when she was a child and was trained to be an assassin.
