The organizing committee for the Chinese Film Media Awards yesterday announced its nomination list, qq.com reports.

Director Johnny To's crime thriller "Life Without Principle," starring Lau Ching-Wan, Richie Ren and Ho Wan-Si, received 10 nominations including Best Film, Best Screenplay, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress.

Hot on the heels of "Life Without Principle" is the art-house film "A Simple Life" with 7 nominations in pocket. Its leading actors Andy Lau and Donnie Yip have been short-listed for Best Actor and Best Actress, respectively.

Taiwanese directors Giddens Ko, for "You Are The Apple Of My Eye", and Teng Yung-Shing, for "Return ticket", both won five nominations, and war epic "Seediq Bale" made in Taiwan also garnered 4 nominations.

Regarding mainland films, "Piano in a Factory" has been nominated in 5 categories, "Buddha Mountain" got four nominations and "Love Is Not Blind" has three.

According to the nomination shortlist, the number of nominations for each category has increased from three to five. The organizing committee stated that the quantity of the films made on the mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan has been increasing and that this means more opportunities for Chinese films.

It has been revealed that the award ceremony will be held in Haikou, capital of Hainan province, in May.
