The directorial debut of Keanu Reeves, star of the "Matrix", kicked off its shooting schedule on February 28 in Beijing, Mtime.com reports.
The new director attended a small celebratory event along with the famed Chinese producer, Han Sanping and other members of the cast to mark the start of the production process for "Man of Tai Chi".
With nearly 200 million RMB worth of investment from Village Roadshow and the China Film Group, "Man of Tai Chi" marks the first time for Reeves to take the helm of a major movie project. Chinese Kung Fu master Yuen Woo-Ping will choreograph the movie's action sequences. Chen Hu, Reeves' personal Kung Fu coach, is set to portray the lead character while Reeves will act opposite him as the movie's villain.
It has been confirmed that Hong Kong singer and actress Karen Mok will be the female lead, portraying a police officer.
Filming is expected to finish some time around July. A release date for the movie has yet to be confirmed.
