Zhang Yimou's war epic "The Flowers of War" has been shrouded in mystery since it first came into view of public. The name of the leading actress has not been revealed to the public, in a very deliberate attempt to arouse curiosity among movie-goers as to who the new Mou Girl might be.

At last, movie fans have the chance to sneak a peek at the mysterious actress thanks to the leaking of the official movie poster on the internet. It was revealed that the official poster was supposed to be provided to Cinema chains only, but was accidentally leaked on the internet.

At the same time, photos of the set have also been released. Strangely enough, 14 girls appear in the photos; while those acquainted with the story will know that "The Flowers of War" refers to 13 prostitutes living in Nanjing during 1937.

The lead actress's name, Ni Ni, is listed on the poster alongside that of Hollywood star Christian Bale; indicating the girl's importance within the project.

Just last month, Ni Ni wrote an article entitled 'Christian and I shoot love scene', which caused something of a stir among movie fans.

"The Flowers of War" is an adaptation of Yan Geling's novel of the same name. Preparation stages for the movie lasted 4 years and the total investment amounts to 600 million yuan. It cost 20 million yuan alone to build the main set - a church. Set in Nanjing in 1937, the film tells the tale of a group of people including women, 13 prostitutes and 6 soldiers who hid in the church during the Nanjing Massacre.

"The Flowers of War" will be released on December 16.
