The 1993 movie 'East Meets West', which boasted a megastar cast, including the late Leslie Cheung, Tony Leung Ka Fai, Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Brigitte Lin, Jacky Cheung, Joey Wong, Maggie Cheung and Carina Lau, is considered by many to be an irreplaceable comedy classic. This year, director Jeffrey Lau is trying to reproduce such brilliance with his own version, "East Meets West 2011".
A press conference was held to promote the comedy blockbuster, "East Meets West 2011", in Shenzhen, on October 19. Director Jeffrey Lau, accompanied by members of the star-studded cast, including Kenny Bee, Eason Chan, William So, Betty Huang, Sitar Tan and Stephy Tang appeared at the event.
The director of the film revealed that 60 popular Chinese stars, including Karen Mok, Ekin Cheng, Jaycee Chan, William So, Yang Mi, Jonathan Lee and Alan Tam will be involved in the film, as well as those in attendance at the event.
During the press conference, the eight lead actors appeared wearing costumes which feature in the film; revealing the styling for each character. Meanwhile, promotional posters featuring the eight gods have also been released.
The main characters of "East Meets West 2011" portray reincarnated gods, assuming the role of ordinary individuals in modern society.
Original and creative in its approach, the film is a modern comedy which mixes elements of fashion, action, love and special effects.
"East Meets West 2011" is slated for release on November 24, during the New Year period of 2012.
