Produced by Central Pictures Corporation and directed by Wang Caitao, the movie "Sun Yat-sen," a long-awaited tribute to that other anniversary this year, the centenary of the 1911 revolution, will tell the heroic story of the founder of the Republic of China. Singer and actor Han Geng plays Sun's secretary, Hu Hanmin. Han, who's been busy shooting, told the Global Times the movie will bring a different take to the well-known tale.
Han didn't hesitate to take the role, believing it's his obligation to play an important part in the memory of the famous revolution which shaped his country's history. In his opinion, it's practical for actors of his age to attract younger generations to learn about historic characters.
Han switched to films after his latest album Geng Xin last July but says he'll never quit singing, as the stage is where he made his debut. Asked about his plans, Han disclosed that he'll try his hand at TV drama after finishing three movies. Though he's drawn plaudits from fans, he has yet to receive recognition from experts. Han admitted frankly that his wish was to be granted a Best New Artist Award by the end of the year: "This is only my dream and I have got no idea whether it will be realized or not."
