Sino-Japanese animated co-production, "The Tibetan Dog"("Zang Ao Duo Ji"), released two new posters and a trailer on Children's Day.
Its theatrical release in China is set for June 28. Director Masayuki Kojima hopes the film can be a late Children's Day present for Chinese children, according to 163.com.
Adapted from Chinese writer Yang Zhijun's best-seller "The Tibetan Mastiff," the film tells an adventure story of a boy and the Tibetan mastiff he saved.
The film is jointly produced by China Film Group Corporation, China's Ciwen Pictures and Japan's Madhouse Studio. The production crew includes Japan's top animation masters, Masao Maruyama, Masayuki Kojima, and Urasawa Naoki.
Infused with Japanese animation style and original Tibetan sceneries, the film is the first Sino-Japanese animated co-production.
"If this film can go off with a bang, more cooperation between Chinese and Japanese animation industry would follow." Masao Maruyama, the film's executive producer said.
It is reported that the film is going to compete at this year's Annecy International Animated Film Festival, which runs from June 6 to 11 in Annecy, France.
