Producer Kong Hsu and director Tsao Jui-Yuan were accompanied by protagonists Huo Siyan, Ah Lei Gua and Lan Ching Lung at the event.
Sixty-seven-year-old Gua wore a pretty dress and danced the rumba. She told the media she dances the tango, rumba, waltz and cha-cha in the film, saying, "I dance seven to eight hours every day. I'm still very strong."
Kong Hsu said the new movie is not related to the first one and has a different storyline. He also said director Ang Lee told him that in filming the sequel he should not "screw up" the brand that "Eat Drink, Man Woman" had created for Chinese films.
"Eat Drink, Man Woman II" is about vegetarianism, a true love that lasts for 50 years and Chinese food as a medicinal diet.
