Chinese director Li Weiran's debut film "Welcome to Sha Ma Town" released its first trailer at a press conference in Beijing on Wednesday, Mtime.com reports.
The one-and-half-minute trailer shows viewers some humorous scenes taking place in the countryside in the west of China, as well as introducing the main characters.Cast members Sun Honglei, Lin Chi-Ling and Gan Wei attended the event and shared their funny stories from shooting.
Sun plays the head of Sha Ma town, Tang Gaopeng, who is an honest and wise man. Lin Chi-Ling, on the contrary, has totally turned away from her previous beautiful and graceful image. She appears with a short hair style, portly figure and even a mouth of yellow teeth. But she explained that she liked the no-nonsense personality of her character and was happy to have this chance to try a different role. Sun also praised Lin's courage in taking the role, as well as praising her beauty.
When talking about the film's plot, Sun summarized it as being about "a Chinese hero in the southwest countryside." Lin, on the other hand, thought that the film focused on a simple story reflecting the fact that every little man has a dream.
Aiming to be the best-selling comedy hit of the summer, the film is scheduled to hit screens in the latter part of June.
