'Lola' appears at Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF) on Thursday, March 25, 2010, Sohu reports.
Directed by the Philippine director Brillante Mendoza, 'Lola' is based on a real story about two elderly women. Lola means grandma in Philippine Tagalog. Brillante Mendoza expressed that this film casts a light on the life of old people in Philippines.
Brillante Mendoza is well known for his film "Kinatay" released in 2009 and also because of that film he has won the Best Director at the 62nd International Cannes Film Festival. In addition he also said that he is planning to direct an action film in the future.
