Director Xiaogang Feng's first trailer for "Aftershock" grabbed the most attention when it was shown on the third day of the Hong Kong International Film Festival.
The 30-second trailer released yesterday shocked some of the audience and reporters who saw it to tears.
As the first domestically made IMAX movie, "Aftershock" has attracted widespread media attention. It is scheduled to open on July 28, the same date as the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that occurred in Tangshan 34 years ago.
The trailer starts with corpses lying randomly in the mud during a heavy rain. A mud-covered young girl is choked by muddy rainwater and regains consciousness. She slowly stands up and sees the destruction that the earthquake has caused. As she walks through building ruins and rescue teams, she can't believe what she sees. A People's Liberation Army officer approaches her and asks: "Kid, where is your family? Where are your parents?" The girl shakes her head. "Don't worry, I will take you to your family," the PLA officer says, taking her into his arms and walking into the rescuers. The trailer ends here with the sentence on the screen: "Some memories can never be erased."
