The 4th Asian Film Awards will be held on March 22nd at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. Nearly half of the nominated films are Chinese films, and experts say Chinese films will probably dominate the awards this year instead of Korean and Japanese films, as in past years, M1905.com reports.

The year 2009 saw outstanding Chinese films such as "Bodyguards and Assassins," "City of Life and Death," "Cow," "Overheard," "The Storm Worriers" and "The Silver Medalist," which did well at box offices across Asia and have been nominated for the 4th Asian Film Awards.

Among these films, "Bodyguards and Assassins," directed by Teddy Chan and supervised by Peter Chan Jianxin Huang, has racked up the most nominations. It has been nominated for the Best Film, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best New Comer, Best Production Designer and Best Costume Designer Awards. "City of Life and Death," the Best Film Award winner from the San Sebastian 56th International Film Festival, has been nominated again for the Best Film, Best Director, Best Cinematographer and Best Composer Award in Hong Kong this time. The Chinese espionage film "The Message" and war comedy "Cow" have also been nominated for several awards.

A-list director Chuan Lu has been nominated for best director for the film "City of Life and Death" and is a very competitive candidate. Xueqi Wang and Bo Huang have been nominated for best actor for "Bodyguards and Assassins" and "Cow." Bingbing Li is a nominee for best actress. Singer Yuchun Li, who played Fanghong in "Bodyguards and Assassins," has been nominated for the Best Newcomer Award and recognized by experts. Chinese films were also nominated in other categories.
